The City of Durham has been recognized for the 25th consecutive year for its budget reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association, a professional association of over 17,800 members throughout North America that has served the public finance profession since 1906.

Duke University's Fuqua School of Business was ranked 14th of the top 33 part-time MBA programs in the world by Bloomberg Busineessweek.
Durham Named 2013 Digital Cities Survey Winner
The City of Durham has been nationally recognized for its use of technology to improve transparency with residents and operate more efficiently with taxpayer dollars. Durham tied for third place with the City of Alexandria, VA in e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government and the Digital Communities Program's top-ranked cities in the 2013 Digital Cities Survey in the 125,000 – 249,999 population category.

5 Duke Researchers Recognized as Top Biomedical Scientists
The European Journal of Clinical Investigation recognized 400 of the world’s most influential researchers in biomedicine and five of them are currently at Duke University. Robert M Califf, Marc G. Caron, Robert J. Lefkowitz, Terrie E. Moffitt, and Eric D. Peterson were on the list.

Durham Recognized on 10 Best Small Cities to Retire Happily In
Durham was recognized at #9 on MarketWatch's "10 Best Small Cities to Retire Happily In" which was part of a study by The Milken Institute. The Institute analyzed 259 smaller cities and considered 78 factors that affect the quality of life of those ages 65 and older.

Three Duke Hospitals Named Top Performers
Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional and Duke Raleigh hospitals were recognized as top performers in the 2013 assessment by the Joint Commission, which accredits health organizations in the United States.
