Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet Elementary School and Lakewood Montessori Middle School have earned the “Magnet School of Excellence” designation by Magnet Schools of America, the highest award given by the organization.

Cree Named #13 of MIT Technology Review's 50 Smartest Companies

Durham company Cree has been named number 13 on MIT Technology Review's list of the "50 Smartest Companies."

James Beard Semi-Finalists Announced

Four Durham Restaurateurs and Chefs have been selected as semifinalists for a James Beard Award. Phoebe Lawless was selected for Outstanding Pastry Chef, Giorgios Bakatsias of  Giorgios Hospitality Group was selected for Outstanding Restaurateur, and both Scott Howell of Nana's and Matt Kelly of Mateo bar de Tapas were selected for Best Chef: Southeast.

Duke's Baldwin Auditorium Wins National Award

Duke University and architect Ray Walker have received a National Excellence in Construction Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. trade group. This award is the first national award of its kind given for a Duke University building.
