The Carolina Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate presented local executives with real estate awards recognizing creative projects on Wednesday.  Jim Goodmon, CEO of Capital Broadcasting Co. won for spearheading the revitalization of the American Tobacco Historic District in Durham.

Associate Director of Duke Performances wins second Grammy

Eric Oberstein, associate director of Duke Performances, won the best-instrumental-composition Grammy for his work on Arturo O’Farrill’s album “Cuba: The Conversation Continues.” This makes his second Grammy awarded in two years.

NC School of Science and Mathematics teacher wins Grammy

Phillip Riggs, who has been teaching for 27 years and at the School of Science and Mathematics since 2008, has won a Grammy for Music Educator of the Year. He  was chosen from a field of more than 4,500 nominations from all 50 states.
