Durham was recognized as the Nation’s 20th Bee City USA

Durham City Council unanimously passed a resolution to adopt the practices required to become a Bee City USA. Mayor William V. “Bill” Bell has designated the Durham Bee City Committee, a group of residents and business owners committed to protecting pollinators, as the facilitator for Durham’s efforts to meet the requirements of being a Bee City USA. Several key partners in the Durham Bee City Committee include Keep Durham Beautiful, Honeygirl Meadery, the NC Museum of Life and Science, Bee Downtown, Burt’s Bees, Durham County Cooperative Extension, Lee attracting birds and bees, Triangle Land Conservancy, and Durham County Bee Keepers.
