Duke University senior Jared Dunnmon was awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. Dunnmon is pursuing alternative energy sources at Duke and is Duke's 43rd scholar to win the award.

The Durham County Tax Administration was awarded the “Joseph E. Hunt Distinguished Jurisdiction Award” presented by the North Carolina Association of Assessing Officers for its license plate recognition program for motor vehicle delinquent collection purposes.

Three Duke Players on Watch List

The Duke University men's basketball team had three players selected to the 2010-11 Naismith preseason watch list released by The Atlanta Tipoff Club. Duke lead all schools with three players among the 50 chosen.

NCSSM Teacher Featured on Today Show

Durham resident and retired North Carolina School of Science and Math teacher Joe Liles will be featured on NBC's Today Show in a segment called "Your Life Calling with Jane Pauley" on Wednesday, November 10.

Durham Youth's Poem Published in National Magazine

A poem written by Austen Grace Dellinger of Durham was published in the September/October edition of Clavier Companion, a national magazine for piano players and teachers. The poem was selected for the adult poetry section, even though Austen was 9 when she wrote it.
