Carolina Chocolate Drops Nominated for Grammy

The Durham-based band Carolina Chocolate Drops have been nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award for Best Folk Album for their recording “Leaving Eden.”

Durham Makes Paste Magazine's List of Top 5 Most Influential Music Towns

Durham, together with Chapel Hill and Raleigh, made Paste's list of the top five most influential college towns in music. The magazine gave special shout outs to Durham music heavies Merge Records, Megafaun, Schooner, The Carolina Chocolate Drops and of course, Duke University.

The Durham-based Carolina Chocolate Drops won the Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album with "Genuine Negro Jig" and "The Suburbs" by Arcade Fire (on Durham's Merge Records) won the album of the year award.
