Nneena Freelon, Duke Professor Perform at Request of President Obama

Durham Grammy-winner Nnenna Freelon was joined by Duke Music Professor and bassist John Brown in a special performance at the request of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for a dinner and luau hosted by the Obamas for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Hawaii. The concert included jazz, soul and pop standards.

Nnenna Freelon Honored with Arts Award

Nnenna Freelon, Durham resident, singer, arranger, producer and six-time Grammy Award nominee, will be the recipient of the first Arts Day Artist Award presented by Secretary of Cultural Resources Linda A. Carlisle at the Arts Day Legislative Training.
