Three Durham James Beard Award Semifinalists 2015 Announced

The James Beard Awards have announced three Durham semifinalists for two 2015 awards. Phoebe Lawless of Scratch Bakery is a semifinalist for Outstanding Baker; and Scott Howell of Nana’s and Matt Kelly of Vin Rouge and Mateo Tapas are semifinalists in the category of Best Chef Southeast.

Four Durham Chefs and Restaurants Recognized as Semifinalists for James Beard Award


The James Beard Foundation announced that four Durham restaurants are among the 2013 James Beard Foundation Awards Restaurant and Chef Award Semifinalists:
  1. Mateo bar de Tapas in the category of Best New Restaurant
  2. Pheobe Lawless of Scratch Bakery in the category of Outstanding Pastry Chef
  3. Sean Lilly Wilson of Fullsteam Brewery in the category of Outstanding Wine, Spirits, Beer Professional
  4. Scott Howell of Nana's in the category of  Best Chef in the Southeast

Mateo Bar de Tapas Ranked by Food and Wine Magazine

New Durham tapas restaurant, Mateo Bar de Tapas, has been ranked by Food and Wine Magazine as one of the Top 25 Places to Drink Wine Now. Opened by the chef/owner of Vin Rouge, the restaurant is quickly getting the attention of national food media and local food lovers, alike.
