Durham Has Fastest Wage Growth in US

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, workers in Durham have good reason to be happy.  From July 2007 to July 2012, weekly earnings rose by $280.46, a 41.29% jump making Durham number one in the nation.

Durham Boasts Highest Salaries in the South

Wages are higher in Durham than anywhere else in the South. According to data compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and a study by The Business Journals, a division of Charlotte-based America City Business Journals, the typical worker in the Durham metropolitan area – Durham, Orange, Chatham and Person counties – earned $50,480 in 2009. These earnings make Durham the wage leader throughout the South.
